The Westchester County Association will partner with schools and businesses to host its second annual career and internship fair on Oct. 18. Recruit Westchester 2013 will be held at the Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a VIP session from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will offer the business community an opportunity to connect with potential employees. Job and internship seekers can register for the event online at www.recruitwestchester.org.
The career fair began last year as an outgrowth of the association’s Blueprint for Westchester initiative.
Recruit Westchester will ensure that businesses are ready to capitalize on the intellectual capital in the region, said Marissa Brett, executive director of the Blueprint for Westchester.
“The Westchester economy is growing and it’s critical for established and entrepreneurial companies to have access to emerging talent,” Brett said.
Last year, the career fair attracted more than 100 employers and 3,000 students and alumni from 14 colleges. This year, more than 100 employers have already signed up for the career fair including nonprofit organizations, financial services firms, medical centers, media groups and travel and tourism enterprises.
Higher education institutions participating include Berkeley College, College of New Rochelle, College of Westchester, Fordham University in Westchester, Iona College, Long Island University Hudson, Manhattanville College, Mercy College, Monroe College, New York Medical College, Pace University, Purchase College SUNY, Sarah Lawrence College, St. Thomas Aquinas College and Westchester Community College.
