Briarcliff Manor is set to open a major data center hub after a national computer-based company specializing in data recovery and facilities bought the former Sony Corp. property. T5 Data Centers based in Atlanta partnered with Lincoln Rackhouse, a data center real estate service provider based in Dallas, to open the company’s first Northeast data center at 600 Albany Post Road.
T5 Data Centers, which now has locations in seven states, will expand into the newly renovated 38,000-square-foot building and lease it to one long-term tenant. The facility is currently a “white box” space, and the partners are looking for entrepreneurs, medical and research centers, financial service companies, trading and technology firms, said Martin Peck, senior vice president of Lincoln Rackhouse.
Once the partners secure a business tenant, they plan to build out the space to reflect the needs and interests of their would-be client, Peck added.
T5 and Lincoln Rackhouse chose Briarcliff Manor for its New York expansion because it was “largely unaffected by Sandy and never lost power,” Aaron Wangenheim, chief marketing officer for T5 Data Centers, said in a written statement.
He added that the facility’s 9.4-acre site is located in the “heart of a booming technology region” and provides “access to new clients seeking data center resiliency and customization.”
The facility is expected to be completely operational by the second quarter of this year, according to T5 Data Centers.Â
