SUNY Purchase ranked as one of the top 10 public liberal arts colleges in the nation, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s 2014 edition of “Best Colleges.” The book annually ranks institutions of higher education to help parents decide where to send their college-bound students.
Earlier this year, Purchase was named in the 2014 edition of “The Fiske Guide to Colleges” and The Princeton Review’s 2014 edition of its annual college guide “The Best 378 Colleges.” Purchase is one of two public institutions in New York to rank in the top tier of the 180 best liberal arts colleges in the country.
The college is one of a few small institutions to combine conservatory training in the arts with competitive liberal arts and science programs. Most classes are conducted as seminars. The college touts a number of highly successful alumni including editors, authors, physicians, artists, performers, teachers and clinical psychologists.
“When we look at how Purchase is consistently recognized by these prestigious national ranking systems, we see the strength of our mission revealed,” Thomas J. Schwarz, president of SUNY Purchase, said. “Ours is an institution driven to advance open-minded engagement, academic excellence, and creative process. The environment here is unique and supportive””dedicated to ensuring our students”™ academic and personal success, as well as opening doors to professional opportunities.”
Happy that the world is getting to know what we know here in Westchester, that SUNY Purchase is one of the best colleges in the country.
