A New York City think tank made Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano one of three recipients of an award for innovation in spurring expansion of Web-based services in local government.
The Intelligent Communities Forum also bestowed its annual Founders Award to officials in Manchester, United Kingdom and Taoyuan County, Taiwan. Spano is being recognized for spurring the county to work with its municipalities to aggregate sufficient demand to finance construction of a fiber-optic communications network, which serves 3,500 businesses today and which has been credited with attracting new investment.
The award presentation will take place May 15 as part of ICF”™s Building the Broadband Economy Summit, where it will also bestow its Intelligent Community of the Year award, won by Westchester County last year.
