The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center in Yonkers will celebrate its 25th anniversary today at 6 p.m.  The evening will feature a short program including talks by several local and state politicians, a statement from Elizabeth Seton chairman Peter McKeever and musical performances by children at the center.
“Music is a large part of the therapeutic program,” said Brian Harrington, Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center spokesman. “Several of our children will be singing.”
The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, founded by Sisters of Charity of New York, provides nursing and rehabilitation services for 350 medically fragile children and adolescents each year. The four-story, 165,000-square-foot building is the first long term health care facility to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification. The facility provides inpatient, home care and educational services in Westchester County.
Elizabeth Setan Pediatric Center helps children with medical conditions including cerebral palsy, premature birth complications, congenital heart disease, chronic lung disease, chromosome disorders, metabolic disorders, respiratory disorders, muscular and neurological diseases and immunodeficiency syndromes. Most patients stay at least a year to receive comprehensive health care, rehabilitation and special education.
