Municipalities within Westchester and Fairfield Counties were represented in SafeWise”™s 2017 listing of the 100 Safest Cities in America, with Lewisboro, N.Y., earning the number one spot as the nation”™s safest location thanks to a total of two nonviolent crimes reported last year. Weston, Conn., placed sixth with no violent crimes in 2016 and a very low property crime rate of 2.30 per 1,000 persons.
Other Westchester municipalities cited by SafeWise in its 100 Safest Cities list were Rye (No. 13), New Castle (No. 17), Harrison (No. 50), Sleepy Hollow Village (No. 51), Bedford (No. 76) and North Castle (No. 98). Fairfield County was also represented on the list with Wilton (No. 49) and Ridgefield (No. 57).
SafeWise tabulated its list based on FBI crime statistics and the public safety, public health, and educational offerings of each municipality.
