The KeyBank Foundation, a nonprofit charitable foundation funded by Cleveland-based KeyCorp, has contributed $100,000 to Westchester Medical Center for a new program aimed at helping entry-level employees advance in the health care field.
The contribution, which will be distributed over a three-year period, will allow Westchester Medical Center”™s organizational development and learning department to launch the School At Work program.
This program aims to boost employee engagement by preparing entry-level staff at Westchester Medical Center, Maria Fareri Children”™s Hospital and the Behavioral Health Center in Valhalla to advance in their careers. The nine-month workforce development program will cover topics including mastering communication, patient safety and satisfaction, medical terminology and future planning.
“For many, going back to school can seem to be an insurmountable challenge,” said Kathleen Lynch Cartine, director of organizational development and learning at Westchester Medical Center. “This supportive and encouraging program helps to overcome the challenges and change a person”™s life as well as benefit our organization and the community we serve.”
Valhalla-based Westchester Medical Center is the 895-bed flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network.
