Iona College has named a New Jersey academic its next provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.Â
Mark Kiselica, currently the vice provost of the College of New Jersey, will assume the role July 1.
As provost, Kiselica will provide the New Rochelle-based college with leadership in planning and budgeting all student life programs and help implement the school’s already adopted five-year strategic plan.
“Dr. Kiselica is an impressive professor, scholar and administrator,” said Iona College President Joseph E. Nyre in a press release. “He is joining the college at a pivotal time in our history. As we focus our strategic efforts, he is the right academic leader to guide our community toward advancing student distinction, academic distinction and affordability, as well as elevating the academic reputation of the institution.”
A psychologist, professor of counselor education and the former dean of the College of New Jersey’s School of Education, Kiselica is a national authority on male psychology and has authored 150 publications.
Kiselica completed his psychology bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in Pennsylvania at Saint Vincent College, Bucknell University and Pennsylvania State University, respectively. He currently is an American Council on Education Fellow at Elizabethtown College, also in Pennsylvania.
Iona representatives said Kiselica was a clear choice after a national search with over 70 applicants..
“I have known Dr. Mark Kiselica for over 15 years,” said R. Barbara Gitenstein, president of the College of New Jersey, in a release. “During that time I have been able to observe the growth and enhancement of his administrative and leadership abilities. Mark is a skilled and caring academic leader, an individual who can encourage the best in others while expecting only the highest performance from himself. We will miss him at the College of New Jersey, but I know that he will make a tremendous positive difference at Iona College.”
