Groundwork Hudson Valley hosts its third annual Urban River Party benefit at X20 Xaviars on the Hudson, Sept. 9 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The event honorees are Sarah Lawrence College and its President Karen Lawrence; Glenn Pacchiana, president and CEO of Thalle Industries; and Wendy Zimmermann, vice chairperson of Groundwork”™s board of directors.

The benefit program features state Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins as the honorary chairperson. Lead corporate sponsors include Paul/Weiss, Shepherd Kaplan, ELQ Industries, JPMorgan Chase, Mindspark and Sound Associates.
Funds raised at the event will be used to sustain Groundwork”™s programs throughout Yonkers, including the youth Green Team, which employed 15 Yonkers teens this summer, building a park for seniors at Walsh Road and running the weekly Get Fresh Yonkers Farmers Market. Other programs to be supported are the Science Barge, community farms at Philipse Manor Hall and Buena Vista Avenue, and the Yonkers RailTrail for walking and biking set to break ground this fall.
