Fordham University has launched a new program specifically for au pairs.
The courses will be offered through the university”™s School of Professional and Continuing Studies and will allow participants to earn up to 40 hours of class time. Classes are offered as one- or two-day weekend intensives or as evening classes. The university will also offer a discounted rate to au pairs from recognized agencies.
According to the university, Westchester is the home of hundreds of au pairs from around the world who are authorized by the U.S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. As part of their visa, au pairs are required to complete the equivalent of six credit hours at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.
“The post-secondary credit requirement can be problematic for many au pairs due to the cost of instruction,” said Anthony R. Davidson, dean of Fordham”™s School of Professional and Continuing Studies. “We are pleased to expand our offerings to benefit these hardworking individuals so that they may continue to gain knowledge and expertise in a field which serves our county well.”
Upcoming September classes include an introduction to social media marketing and a class focused on understanding consumer behavior.
