Westchester County officials invite businesses to join in a countywide food drive June 22-23 to stock food pantries and soup kitchens for needy families in the county.
The county already has recruited the Westchester Municipal Officials Association, local municipalities and libraries to the team effort. ?A participating business can set up a collection point, decide where food will be donated and encourage employees and others to contribute nonperishable items. Businesses can partner directly with local food agencies and arrange delivery or get free pick-ups for large-volume donations to the Food Bank for Westchester, which will redistribute items to almost 200 locations around the county.
The county will give each business an electronic poster that can be customized and sent out by email or printed and posted. All participating collection sites will be posted on the county”™s web site at www.westchestergov.com.
