The Business Council of Westchester has announced six businesses that will be honored at its Business Hall of Fame Awards on April 21.
“We are proud to have a diverse and distinguished group of honorees that represent the best of Westchester businesses,” said Marsha Gordon,president and CEO of The Business Council, in a press release announcing the awards. “Our winners are a reflection of the dynamism of Westchester”™s economy that is made up of everything from large corporations to family-owned businesses. We are honored to induct these companies into the 2015 Business Hall of Fame.”
The winners will be honored at an awards dinner April 21 at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.
New to this year”™s Hall of Fame is the the Chairman”™s Recognition Award, given to a nominee chosen from among all the categories, which recognizes a business or organization for its outstanding contributions to the community. It will be presented to Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville, with William Flooks Jr., funeral director, accepting the award.
This year”™s award for corporate citizenship will be presented to New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Robert Amler, vice president for government affairs and professor of public health, will accept the award. New York Medical College is a member of the Touro College and University System and offers graduate-level degree programs for careers in medicine, public health, biomedical sciences and health professions.
Tim Allen, CEO of Mindspark in Yonkers, will accept the award for entrepreneurial success on behalf of his company. Mindspark builds and markets mobile and digital applications, and has more than 80 products in its portfolio.
York International Agency LLC, a privately held insurance agency in Harrison, won the award for small-business success. Robert Kestenbaum, the agency”™s CEO, will accept the award for his firm, comprising 42 insurance professionals who represent 3,000 clients and $100 million of gross written premiums placed with insurance companies.
Rella Fogliano, president of MacQuesten Development in Pelham, will be honored with the Women in Business Success award. MacQuesten Development”™s business includes general contracting, construction management and real estate development for residential and commercial properties.
The Family Owned Business award will be presented to American Christmas in Mount Vernon. Fred Schwam, CEO, will accept the award on behalf of the company, which designs, manufactures, installs, removes, stores and refurbishes holiday displays for office lobbies, tenant offices, hotels, restaurants, banks, theaters, retail stores, shopping centers, hospitals and television sets for 385 clients across the country.
