The flight of young professionals from Westchester County will be the topic of an April 22 small-business forum hosted by state Assemblyman David Buchwald.
Buchwald, a White Plains Democrat, said the event will include guest speakers and seek out policies to attract and retain the young, educated population of the county. The event will be open to the public and held at Fordham University’s Westchester campus at 400 Westchester Ave. in West Harrison.
“Attracting young professionals to our community is vital to keeping our local economy strong,” Buchwald said. “With the direct input of small-business owners and our community leaders, we can begin to address this important issue head on.”
According to the assemblyman”™s office, there will be several guest speakers including Alexander Roberts, executive director of Community Housing Innovations. Roberts recently authored a report on Westchester”™s and other New York City suburbs”™ so-called “brain drain,” the loss of educated 25-to-34-year-olds from the area.
