Mimi Clarke Corcoran has been named president and CEO of Andrus, a Yonkers-based nonprofit children”™s organization.
Corcoran is replacing Nancy Ment, who is retiring after 26 years. Since 2009, Corcoran has been the director of the Special Fund for Poverty Alleviation, a $170 million philanthropic investment by George Soros”™ Open Society Foundation.
“Andrus is a remarkable organization, providing vital services to some of our most vulnerable children and families, giving them hope and opportunity,” said Corcoran, who begins her new role July 1. “Andrus has been a leader in innovative programs and I look forward to collaborating with its talented staff, its board and its many donors and partners throughout the community to address the opportunities and challenges ahead.”
Founded in 1928 as an orphanage, Andrus is a family-centered organization which offers programs to children, families and communities from 15 locations in Westchester. It also operates mental health clinics in White Plains, Yonkers and Peekskill, and a preschool Early Learning Center and after-school programs in Eastchester.
