Metallized Carbon Corp., an Ossining-based manufacturer, pledged to retain its 118 employees and add another 25 jobs in return of a $850,000 discount on its energy bill.
More than 60 years old, Metallized Carbon is most known for its signature Metcar family of oil-free, self lubricating materials for industries as diverse as aerospace, automobiles, military, petrochemical and power generation.
The company’s pledge is one of 14 in the most recent round of statewide power allocations by the New York Power Authority and Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s ReCharge NY program, designed to spur economic development.
The program allocates low-cost power to New York businesses that pledge to retain or create jobs over a period no longer than seven years. Over the last two years, 619 businesses and 68 nonprofits have received an allocation.
“With today”™s action, more than a dozen companies can now be added to the growing list of ReCharge NY recipients,” NYPA Chairman John Koelmel said in a press release. “These businesses will all be afforded impactful savings on their monthly energy bills, granting them the latitude to prioritize other business needs.”
The most recent round will allocate 5.8 megawatts of power, which is enough to power 4,640 to 5,800 typical homes. The program has allocated a total 736 MW.
