It takes a lot of effort by a lot of volunteers and organizations to be sure that the hungry in Westchester will be well fed during the Thanksgiving holiday. On Nov. 14, students from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School in Elmsford and the Solomon Schechter School of Westchester in Hartsdale, teamed up at the Food Bank for Westchester”™s facility in Elmsford to unload 1,000 turkeys that Stop & Shop had donated.
For more than 29 years, the food bank has led the fight against hunger in Westchester County, serving 300 frontline programs that provide food directly to the 200,000 county residents who are hungry or food insecure.
