Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and maybe even Rudolph might have been jealous had they seen what Santa was doing at The Westchester mall in White Plains on Dec. 14. In the mall, where the holiday shoppers could see him but his reindeer couldn”™t, Santa was posing for pictures with some adorable visitors from the Humane Society of Westchester.
The Westchester normally invites folks to bring in their pets to have a photo taken with Santa, but the animals from HSW were there for a special reason: to help promote the fact that, in addition to themselves, there are numerous other dogs and cats just waiting at the shelter in New Rochelle to be adopted. The event did result in people visiting the shelter to adopt.
HSW was founded in 1911 as the New Rochelle Humane Society. It”™s a nonprofit dedicated to the compassionate care and treatment of animals throughout the 19 Westchester communities it serves and beyond.
