The Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), awarded $8.65 million in funding to 23 health centers in New York, including two in Westchester County, to increase access to integrated oral health care services.
Hudson River Healthcare Inc. in Peekskill received $350,000 in funding, and Open Door Family Medical Center Inc. in Ossining was also awarded $350,000.
According to HHS Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell, nearly $156 million was awarded to 420 health centers in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. With these awards, health centers will increase their oral health service capacity by hiring approximately 1,600 new dentists, dental hygienists, assistants, aides and technicians to treat nearly 785,000 new patients.
