Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) has received a $75,000 grant through the New York State Legislature. Helping arrange it was state Sen. David Carlucci who represents the 38th District. This grant will enable LSHV to hire a staff attorney for its Spring Valley office to provide family law and immigration legal services to victims of domestic violence in Rockland County.
Last year, LSHV attorneys handled 2,320 domestic violence cases, more than 100 of them in Rockland.
Carlucci said, “Too often, victims of domestic violence, especially those who are seeking to enter our country to escape their abusers, don”™t know where to turn for help. Providing this grant for Legal Services of the Hudson Valley will help us get the word out about services available to help people in this terrible situation.”
