Catholic Charities Community Services in Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties have received 8,319 pounds of nonperishable food items that were collected in the “Summer 2017 Stuff the Bus” campaign at Stop & Shop stores in Newburgh, Hyde Park, Hopewell Junction and Poughkeepsie.
Radio personalities from iHeartMedia helped promote the food drive. Donations were loaded onto a yellow school bus. When the bus arrived at Catholic Charities, staff and volunteers got the donated items ready for distribution to food pantries, soup kitchens and other Catholic Charities partners in the four counties.
iHeartMedia, based in San Antonio, Texas, owns and operates 858 radio stations throughout the U.S. It has seven stations in Poughkeepsie and six in New York City. When the company got
started in 1972, it was known as Clear Channel Communications.
Kristin Jensen of Catholic Charities said the program “is a shining example of how community members from all walks of life can join together to make a difference in the lives of others.”
Also supporting the program were Gallagher Bus Service/Leprechaun Lines, Claudio Cares Foundation, Foam & Wash Car Wash, People”™s United Bank, the James Brown Family
Foundation and Viking Industries.
