The Council of Industry, which was founded in 1910 and has been supporting Hudson Valley manufacturers for 107 years, presented its 2017 Manufacturing Champions awards during a breakfast event at The Powelton Club in Newburgh.
The private sector award went to George Quigley, owner and president of Kingston-based ErtelAlsop, which manufactures liquid filtration equipment and supplies.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus was selected as public sector champion.
The Hudson Valley Pathways Academy was the organization honored this year. Its students learn critical thinking and problem solving, and are exposed to the workings of the manufacturing industry.
Nicholas Longo of Valley Central School District was chosen as this year”™s educator champion. Longo was praised for his “Introduction to Engineering” course.
