More than 450 guests attended the 23rd Annual Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester”™s Humanitarian Awards Dinner at the Birdstone Farm in Cross River. The event raised $550,000 to support the organization”™s programs. Guests strolled through the stables and enjoyed the farm”™s scenery during cocktail hour, then assembled in the festively decorated riding arena for dinner, dancing, speeches and honors.
The event honored Annica and Daniel van Starrenburg as the Humanitarian Award recipients and Barbara Cutri as the John Beach Award recipient. The Starrenburgs were introduced by Martha Stewart. Their company, SavATree, has donated materials and services to the club and has sponsored after-school programs.
Barbara Cutri has more than 33 years of experience with the club and is its director of operations, overseeing more than 40 programs.
More than 500 youngsters attend the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester in Mount Kisco daily. More than 80,000 free meals are served to the children in after-school programs each year, 67 percent of whom live at or below the poverty level. In addition, 48,000 children have learned water safety through the club”™s swimming programs, while enjoying the benefits of physical fitness and good health.
