New Rochelle is the latest Westchester city to make parking a bit friendlier for its tech-savvy drivers.
The city on Monday launched a mobile parking payment app through ParkMobile, LLC for drivers to pay for their parking on on Main Street between Centre and North Avenues. Drivers can start a parking session and extend time remotely as well as receive a phone notification 15 minutes before their meter time expires. The app launch is part of pilot program before potentially expanding the app to other areas throughout the city.
The free app is available for download at www.parkmobile.com.
“We are continually seeking ways to improve the parking experience in downtown, and the availability of the ParkMobile app broadens the payment options,” said New Rochelle Deputy Commissioner Paul Vacca. “The technology is there, and we are putting it to work.”
Atlanta-based ParkMobile, LLC also operates payment locations at the Irvington, North White Plains, Hastings-on-Hudson, Mount Vernon East, Pelham, Mamaroneck, Harrison, Port Chester, Ossining, Croton-on-Hudson, Cortlandt, Goldens Bridge and Purdys Metro-North train stations.
In May, White Plains launched its own parking app called ParkWhitePlains, which was designed by Passport, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based mobile payment company.
