Fairfield County leads Connecticut when it comes to high gas prices, according to new data from AAA Northeast.
The weekly average price for the Greater Bridgeport/Stamford area is $2.58, above the statewide average of $2.50. The New London/Norwich area is averaging $2.49, while the New Haven/Meriden market averages $2.48.
On a national level, Connecticut is the 11th most expensive state for gas ”“ Hawaii and California top that pricey list at $3.06 and $2.98, respectively. South Carolina has the lowest prices, averaging $2.01.
