Ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, gas prices are in decline nationwide, although regional prices are above the national average.
According to AAA data released this morning, the nationwide average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.28, down from last month’s average of $3.55. One year ago, the average was $3.63; the record high was $5.01 set on June 14, 2022.
In Connecticut, the statewide average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.40. The price is up from last month’s average of $3.63; the price was $3.69 one year ago. Fairfield County’s $3.54 average is the highest for the state’s counties.
In New York, the statewide average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.59, the highest for the entire Northeast region. The price is up from last month’s average of $3.78; the price was $3.83 one year ago. Within the Hudson Valley region, Westchester has the highest average at $3.76 and Sullivan County had the lowest at $3.63.
California had the highest statewide average at $4.94 and Texas had the lowest at $2.75.
“Drivers this Thanksgiving can expect cheaper gas prices,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, add that that a growing number of states have gas prices below the $3 mark. “So savvy drivers will find savings on their way to a turkey dinner this year.”
