The SPCA Animal Shelter in Monroe announced that it is closing on May 6 and is asking for assistance in placing the dogs and cats in its care.
The no-kill shelter at 359 Spring Hill Road in Monroe ”“ which is not affiliated with the ASPCA ”“ is under foreclosure and going to auction on its closing date. It currently cares for approximately 13 dogs and 20 cats and has as online listing for its remaining animals.
“Despite best efforts to keep this no-kill shelter open, financial constraints have made it impossible to continue operations,” said the shelter in a press release.
A GoFundMe page was also set up to help the shelter cover its veterinarian bills and the placement fees for other animal shelters where the “less adoptable” will be sent if they are not placed prior to May 6.
