Erin Hinchey, a Rye Brook entrepreneur, recently opened the first all-American home, garden and gift boutique in Westchester. The Domestic Dry Goods Co. in Rye Brook sells merchandise Hinchey handpicked from all throughout the country.
As a leasing agent, Hinchey helps businesses rent space in the Rye Ridge Shopping Center. After watching several businesses come and go for seven years, Hinchey wanted to start her own enterprise.
“I had been looking for the right home and gift store for some time,” Hinchey said in a written statement. “I had such a precise idea of what I wanted, I decided to do it myself.”
Most of the handcrafted products she sells are made by American artists and independent vendors who come from Brooklyn. The majority of the merchandise is under $100, including bouquets of flowers, plants and terrarium displays bought from New York City wholesalers. The store is known for selling custom designed products that are limited editions and have never been sold anywhere else.
