Balance Bar debuts new product line
Balance Bar in Valhalla has taken a cue from Starbucks and launched Café, a line of nutrition and energy bars inspired by coffee drinkers.
Flavors chocolate almond biscotti and cinnamon bun come packed with protein ”“ 14 grams ”“ and contain 200 calories and 23 vitamins and minerals per bar.
Balance Bar has five product lines and 20 flavors containing 40 percent healthy carbohydrates, 30 percent quality protein and 30 percent dietary fat.
Ratner”™s first-quarter earnings strong
The Brooklyn-based developer of Yonkers mixed-use retail center Westchester”™s Ridge Hill reported net earnings of $47.6 million in the first quarter, up substantially from the net loss of $15.6 million reported in the first quarter last year. Forest City Enterprises Inc. reported revenues of $316.9 million, up from the $271.5 million recorded last year.
Forest City attributed the boost in revenue to the initial proceeds of a land sale of some $42.6 million to Rock Ohio Caesars Cleveland L.L.C. for the construction of a casino in Cleveland.
The company has leased 50 percent of its available retail space at the Ridge Hill development, with a planned opening of major anchor Lord & Taylor scheduled for February 2012.
Loehmann”™s appoints CEO
Loehmann”™s Holdings Inc. appointed Steven Newman CEO of specialty retailer Loehmann”™s, which has a store in Greenburgh. Interim CEO Joe Melvin will serve as chief operating officer. Prior to his appointment, Newman was president of Ashley Stewart Inc., a women”™s specialty retailer. Previously, he was executive vice president of New York & Co.
A&P inks supply agreement
The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc. (A&P) has entered into a supply and logistics agreement with C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. that could result in the bankruptcy-mired grocer saving some $50 million a year if the deal is approved in bankruptcy court later this month.
The agreement would result in cost savings while ensuring product availability throughout the company”™s reorganization process.
