Construction is proceeding on a Blinds to Go store at 150 Central Park Ave. in Greenburgh and Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said he expects it to open this March.
The Central Avenue corridor has garnered momentum, particularly from the recent opening of a 60,000-square-foot ShopRite Supermarket.
“I”™ve been there about four to five times and it”™s like a mob scene,” Feiner said of the store that filled the long-vacant Linens n”™ Things in the Midway Shopping Center. “There”™s a new deli on Central Avenue at the Four Corners and Walgreen”™s opened a couple weeks ago. Bonsai (Japanese) and Hurricane Grill just opened. I”™m really pleased.”
On Feb. 8, members of the Greenburgh town, planning and zoning boards will follow up on a meeting held last year to find ways to reduce retail vacancies and bring in more sales tax revenue.
“Some people expressed their concerns and I think we”™re having the meeting with a goal to be more business-friendly and to be in touch with the businesses and the realtors,” Feiner said. “I think that if we get the word out that we”™re trying to change our laws so it will be easier for businesses to get their approvals, I think we”™ll be sending a positive message.”
