Fresh idea for the office
FreshDirect, the progressive apartment dweller”™s go-to for food delivery in New York City, has set its sights on the office.
After expanding its home grocery-delivery services into Westchester and Fairfield counties last year, the growing Long Island City company is kicking off an office sweepstakes to get employers and employees hooked on FreshDirect.

Buddha minus the belly
Skinny Buddha, the brainchild of an organic chef and a fitness expert, is scheduled to open in early July at 128 Radio Circle Drive in Mount Kisco.
The center will offer personalized fitness-training programs and gourmet prepared meals with a healthy twist.
Elyce Jacobson, co-owner, is chef and owner of In Good Taste organic catering company in Armonk. Shaka Davidson is a massage therapist, personal trainer and Golden Gloves boxer.
Customized programs like the six-week “Buddha Belly Fat Loss” plan include physician”™s evaluation, cardio, resistance, high-intensity training and even massage.
Rebuilding Union Baptist
ShopRite Supermarkets has donated $2,500 to Union Baptist Church after the century-old New Rochelle parish was destroyed by a fire in February. It is one of the city”™s oldest African-American religious organizations and has more than 250 local parishioners. The grocer has embarked on a series of fundraising initiatives to help rebuild the church, including benefit concerts, food donations and collections taken at checkout lines.
Village Café opens in Mamaroneck
Dominick Crea, founder of the payroll and human resource-services company The PSP Group in Mamaroneck, has renovated a storefront at 443 Mamaroneck Ave., Mamaroneck, to reopen as Village Café. A ribbon-cutting with Mayor Norman Rosenblum is scheduled for June 25 at noon.
The menu features salads, wraps and burgers.
