Michael Riahi and Gayle Martin, the married couple who launched the business at 72 Westchester Ave. in 2014, said in an online statement that they were forced to relocate after discovering their new landlord “had his own plans for a new tenant.”
“Sadly there are no viable sites in Pound Ridge, our home town,” the couple stated. “During nearly seven years of doing business in our town we have devoted a lot of time and effort into building the awareness of Pound Ridge. We”™re so happy to witness the recent beautification efforts, the new businesses arriving, and to see that the town is thriving. We are truly and sadly heartbroken now to be forced to have to leave it.”
The new store is scheduled for an April debut at 149 Cherry St. at the former site of Goldenberry, which moved across town. The Pound Ridge store is set to close on March 15.
Plum Plums Cheese promotes itself as offering “a carefully curated selection of farmstead cheeses, artisanal gourmet foods, fresh local dairy products and unique gifts.”
