The deadline for New Rochelle’s retail business to register with the city’s retail business registration program is Jan. 31.
The program, which was established last year, requires all businesses to register with the city and renew their registration annually. Businesses can register in English or Spanish at newrochelleny.com/business free of charge. Officials said failure to register by the deadline may result in a $50 per month fee, with a maximum $350 penalty.
Officials said the program was created to help create a comprehensive city business directory as well as emergency alerts and other business-sponsored events and opportunities. Non-retail businesses are also encouraged to register.
According to the city, any retail business is defined as a for-profit commercial operation that owns, leases or occupies any city space and sells goods or services that are subject to state sales tax. It also includes the retail component of any nonprofits.

Nothing like some new regulations to stymie business growth.
And it only comes from Democrats. Thanks Noam for creating more useless red tape. So glad you’re not the County Executive. That would have been a disaster.
We need to encourage business to expand and not hamper them with this stuff.
