The Spanish-focused Westport restaurant DeTapas Spanish Gastrobar announced it will be closing on Jan. 28.
In a posting on Instagram, owner Carlo Pia announced the “difficult news” came after a period of “careful consideration and reflection.”
“This decision has not been easy, and it is one that comes with a mix of emotions,” Pia wrote. “DeTapas was born to promote “tapas” from Spain, one of the greatest cuisines in the world.
Over the past 2 years, we have had the pleasure of serving our community with passion and dedication. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we weren’t able to keep the restaurant full enough which made it increasingly difficult to sustain our operations.”
Pia, a Barcelona native, has a career in finance before coming into the restaurant industry, managing Mercado Little Spain in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards before starting DeTapas in the space at 180 Post Road East that was previously Chez 180.
