The Egg’s Nest, a restaurant in the Ulster County town of High Falls that opened in 1973, has announced it is closing.
“What was meant to be a spring break to hit the reset button brought unexpected and upsetting news related to my health that requires immediate medical attention,” said co-owner Eric Silver in a Facebook posting. “Doing whatever it takes to ensure that I can be around for as long as possible to be a loving husband and father is my number one priority right now. That said, I can no longer run the restaurant at this time given my current health condition.
Located at 1300 State Route 213, The Egg”™s Nest was known for its American-focused cuisine and multi-colored exterior. Silver and his wife Cristina acquired the property in 2016 from its founders, Richard and Gillian Murphy.
“We would have loved to have had one last celebratory blowout with you all,” the Silvers stated. “When the time comes, perhaps we will be able to have a final send off to bid you all farewell.”
