Waldenbooks at The Rye Ridge Shopping Center in Rye Brook will remain open after parent company Borders Group announced plans in early November to close the location.
Win Ridge Realty L.L.C., the center”™s property owner, said that along with the Rye Brook retail store, Border”™s had announced the shuttering of 200 more units in order to become “a more profitable chain.”
Borders Group had announced some 130 mall-based locations would remain open.
Property owners say a direct appeal was made to Waldenbooks personnel citing that a closing of the 3,100-square-foot Rye Ridge location would create a void in the market.
The Rye Ridge Shopping Center is comprised of 220,000 square feet of retail space on Ridge Street.
A Chipotle Mexican Grill is scheduled to open April 2010, property owners say.
