With renovations to the Tarrytown train station building complete, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is making the 3,820-square-foot building available for lease through a competitive bidding process.
The train station, which recently underwent a $45 million restoration, is located between the Village Hall and the new Hudson Harbor development.
The building has 3,300 square feet on the ground floor and a 520-square-foot loft. Bids are due Sept. 10.
Metro-North Railroad will retain a ticket office, and requires that public restrooms and a public waiting area be available for commuters. Depending on the requirements of the lessee, the public areas may either be incorporated into or separated from the proposed commercial areas.
The lessee will be required to provide morning coffee service on business days from at least 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The suggested rent is $50,000 a year with annual increases of 3 percent, the MTA said.
The building, which was designed by Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge, has been in continuous use since its construction in 1890.
The Tarrytown train station, which is the second busiest on Metro-North Railroad”™s Hudson Line after the Croton-Harmon station, also has new platforms, overpasses, stairways, shelters and elevators.
