Heineken USA CEO Dolf van den Brink reaffirmed the beverage giant’s commitment to White Plains at a reception held in honor of the company receiving LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its corporate headquarters.
Commercial, industrial and residential buildings can qualify for four levels of LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification, with a gold certification being the second-highest level awarded by the nonprofit USGBC.
“Our aims and our objectives around sustainability have been there since day one,” van den Brink said at the reception, held at Heineken USA’s White Plains headquarters.
Van den Brink noted there are only a handful of LEED Gold certified office spaces in Westchester County. “So what we’ve collectively achieved is impressive and we should be proud of it,” he said.
Heineken USA is committed to staying in White Plains for “at least” the next decade, van den Brink said.
“We feel that we belong here.”
Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett and White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach were also in attendance to toast the company”™s achievement.
“We are so honored here in Westchester County to have Heineken USA headquartered here,” Plunkett said.
