A public hearing has been set on the draft environmental impact statement corresponding to the French American School of New York”™s proposed White Plains campus development.
The White Plains Common Council scheduled a public hearing for Sept. 19 after accepting FASNY”™s draft EIS as complete at its Aug. 6 meeting.
The school has applied for a special use permit to construct and operate a private elementary and secondary school and an accessory nursery school at the site of the former Ridgeway Country Club, which FASNY purchased for $11 million in January 2011.
The public hearing will continue on Oct. 17, and public comments will be accepted through Oct. 29.
A copy of the draft EIS is available at the White Plains Library or on the city of White Plains website.
Separately, the Common Council accepted as complete a draft generic environmental impact statement relating to a proposal to establish an Open Space Recreation District in select areas of the city.
The proposal calls for limiting development to 5 percent of properties that fall within the open space district.
If approved in its current form, the proposal would impact the FASNY proposal.
A public hearing regarding the draft EIS for the open space proposal was scheduled for Sept. 4, and will continue on Oct. 1. Public comments will be accepted through Oct. 11.
The draft generic EIS is available online or at the White Plains Library.
