Single-family home sales in Connecticut saw a 10 percent year-over-year increase in May, according to new data from Connecticut Realtors. Last month saw 3,406 total units of homes sold, compared to 3,095 in May 2016. The single-family home median sales price during May was $260,000, a 4 percent increase from the $249,900 level one year earlier.
Connecticut”™s townhouse and condominium sales saw a 25.4 percent year-over-year spike in May, with 874 units sold last month versus 697 one year earlier. The median sales price for this housing sector was $170,875, up 3.6 percent increase from $165,000 in that same time period in 2016.
Regionally, Northeast home sales increased 2.6 percent year-over-year in May, with a median sales price of $281,300. Nationwide, total home sales in May ”“ covering single-family homes, townhouses, condominiums and co-ops ”“ were up 2.7 percent in May, with the median national home sales price at $252,800, according to the National Association of Realtors.
