Single-family residential home sales in Connecticut during April were down by 5.4 percent on a year-over-year basis, according to new data from Connecticut Realtors comparing April 2017 with April 2016. The total units of homes sold in the state last month were 2,600, compared with 2,748 in April 2016. The single-family residential home median sales price in April was $246,000, a 0.4 percent drop from $247,000 one year earlier.
Sales of townhouses and condominiums were also down: 672 total units were sold in April, a 3 percent decline from the 693 units sold one year earlier. However, the $156,500 median sales price for townhouses and condominiums was 1 percent above the $154,900 level set in April 2016.
Separately, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development reported there were 209 permits issued in April for single-family and multifamily housing, down from 299 permits issued one year earlier.
