Rodney Pratt, a former city representative for Stamford”™s West Side, passed away on Thursday at the age of 68 from brain cancer.
Pratt, a Democrat who worked in construction and bail enforcement prior to going into politics, served on the board from 2014 until earlier this year, when he stepped down due to health issues. He also served as a constable.
“His kindness and service to our community extended across his district where he was committed to helping others and improving the lives of Stamford residents,” said Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons in a statement. “I always enjoyed speaking with him about the issues facing our city and seeing his passion for raising awareness for those issues, whether it was public safety, investments in our parks, or improving quality of life.”
The board is planning to pass a resolution honoring his commitment to Stamford, noting how he was “instrumental in the passage of multiple pieces of major legislation, including ordinances that had a demonstrable positive effect on public safety, city parks and transportation.”
