Philip Bartels, of counsel in the Greenwich office of Shipman & Goodwin L.L.P., has been elected chairman of the board of governors for the University of New Haven (UNH). Previously, Bartels served for six years as the board’s vice chairman. UNH’s board of governors is the policy-making body responsible for the fiscal and strategic oversight and governance of the university.
George P. Bauer of Wilton has joined BNC Financial Group”™s board of directors. BNC Financial Group is the holding company that has The Bank of New Canaan and its division Stamford First Bank, and The Bank of Fairfield as its subsidiaries. Bauer founded the investment banking firm, GPB Group Ltd., in 1987. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a master”™s degree in engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
Marcia M. Escobedo, a litigator with Cohen and Wolf P.C., was named to the board of directors of Community Capital Fund, an organization that facilitates the flow of capital and expertise into housing and economic developments benefiting low- and moderate-income people in the greater Bridgeport area. Prior to joining Cohen and Wolf, Escobedo served as a staff attorney at the Connecticut Fair Housing Center.

Ken Lisk, general manager at Lacey Manufacturing Co., was appointed foundation secretary.
Christopher McCormack of Trumbull, an attorney with Pullman & Comley L.L.C., was elected vice president of the board.
Robert Mihalcik Jr., of Shelton, senior vice president, head of deposit operations and chief operations officer at RBS Citizens in Bridgeport, was appointed foundation treasurer.
