Catlin Gardens is not just a catering facility. In fact, Stephanie Stack, one of the owners of the family-run business, says it is a pleasure to see the home her grandmother lived in has become one of western Orange County”™s most popular meeting spots. Â
After several years in the planning, design and approval process, Stack said the family-owned business has gotten its final approval for a hotel on site, something Stack says is going to afford visitors for off-site business conferences a place to wind down.
“We”™ve waited a long time for this,” said Stack, touring the grounds of Catlin Gardens in Slate Hill before last week”™s snowstorm hit the region. Although the half-mile of walkways were covered with snow, and streams were frozen, the serenity lends itself to a quiet atmosphere to not only conduct business but to relax when day is done.Â
“Now that we”™re going to be able to offer overnight accommodations to our guests, it”™s really going to enhance what we already offer,” Stack said. The 40-room boutique hotel will have both standard and luxury rooms with Jacuzzi baths, plasma TV and Wi-Fi. Breakfast is also on the menu for corporate functions that stay overnight.
Catlin Gardens offers complete audio/visual support services, separate meeting and breakout rooms, as well as a large ballroom that can accommodate up to 200-plus guests for business mixers. “With the economy being in the state it”™s in, many businesses are cutting back on meetings, especially if it involves travel … but they still want to give something to hard-working staff members, so our new hotel will be a perfect complement for an offsite overnight meeting.” Stack says the family expects to break ground on the new hotel sometime this month. “As soon as we get a break in the weather,” said Stack, who was bracing for the 15th snowstorm of the winter season.
“Catlin Gardens is one of my favorite spots,” said Josh Sommers of Focus Media, who lives in Minisink. “For people who live in the western part of Orange County or in the tri-state area ”“ the New Jersey/Pennsylvania border of Port Jervis, it”™s one of the nicest catering facilities in the area.”
The Stack family has continued to build up the facility over the years.
“We”™ve really worked hard to make this a place people want to come and relax. My grandmother had a beautiful home, and we”™re so glad it has remained in our family and is now a place for both business and private functions. I think she”™d be very happy to see the TLC that”™s gone into making her former home a real showpiece.”
