A community-based media platform, LMC Media, received an Empire Award from New York state Sen. Shelley Mayer Nov. 10 in recognition of its outstanding service to the community during the Coronavirus pandemic. The nonprofit organization, which was founded in 1983, has expanded from a local cable TV station to a fully equipped media company that quickly came to the aid of local municipalities.
Mayer said, “We should take LMC and make it the new national model of how public access should work.”
Mamaroneck town Supervisor Nancy Seligson said, “LMC Media really did step up during this pandemic. I really appreciate their community and civic spirit that helps us and their tremendous technological abilities. We really feel supported.”
Accepting the award, LMC Executive Director Matt Sullivan thanked everyone for “helping us continue to build community through media.”
