On June 17, EMCOR Group Inc. announced plans to acquire RepconStrickland Inc., a refinery and petrochemical service company, for $445 million.
Based in Norwalk, EMCOR is a building-infrastructure service and construction company that specializes in areas such as electrical power, lighting, ventilation, plumbing and piping systems, and voice and data communication systems.
R. Kevin Matz, EMCOR executive vice president of shared services, said the company had been keeping its eye on RepconStrickland ever since it acquired Ohmstede Ltd. a  premier manufacturer of heat exchangers.
“They were the perfect fit as the businesses were complementary,” Matz said at a press conference announcing the acquisition. “(Our customers) will be able to implement very effective solutions to impact uptime and make the refineries run even better.”
EMCOR, which is a Fortune 500 company, plans to finance the purchase through cash and the existing credit facility. In 2012, RepconStrickland generated $400 million in revenue.
