Connecticut Open House Day will be held on June 12 for its 17th year.
This year, there are about over 140 participants, including 23 in Fairfield County.
The event aims to promote tourism by offering free or reduced admission, free tours, special events, special offers and giveaways for state residents at a variety of attractions in the state.
Preregistration is required at several of the participating businesses and events, so participants are encouraged to plan ahead.
This year, the event will also include virtual experiences, including 3D and video tours and live-streamed performances.
In-person event highlights include boat and trolley rides, museum and studio tours, garden tours, historic site visits, outdoor experiences, artist workshops, flight lessons, pick-your-own produce, animal encounters, author meet-and-greets and food and beverage tastings.
“There has never been a better time to discover and rediscover Connecticut”™s many tourism treasures, from popular destinations to lesser-known hidden gems,” said Christine Castonguay, interim director of the Connecticut Office of Tourism. “After over a year of closures and restrictions due to the pandemic, people are ready to safely explore””and businesses are ready to show off their unique offerings.”
The Office of Tourism pointed out that Open House Day attracts many new visitors to businesses and tourism attractions, many of whom become repeat visitors.
