Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch recently recognized Koskoff, Koskoff and Bieder P.C. ”“ one of the city”™s longtime employers and active community supporters ”“ as the law firm marked its 75th anniversary.
Finch proclaimed Dec. 13 as “Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder Day” in the city and presented a signed proclamation to Michael Koskoff and other principals in a ceremony at city hall on Broad Street.
The firm”™s main offices are at 350 Fairfield Ave.
“The law firm has been a cornerstone in and staunch supporter of the city of Bridgeport for decades,” Finch said in a statement. “The firm and its attorneys donate generously to scores of critical nonprofit organizations and civil programs. The firm employs Bridgeport residents and its attorneys represent our Bridgeport Guardians. In recognition of this, and in celebration of the firm”™s 75th anniversary, today is Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder Day.”
The firm was founded by Theodore I. Koskoff in 1936. That year marked the beginning of a long and prestigious career for the New Haven native, who died in 1987.
A nationally known trial lawyer, Koskoff graduated from Boston University”™s School of Law and was also awarded an honorary doctoral degree by Suffolk University Law School in Boston. A former president of the American Association for Justice, he was widely known for the passion he brought to the practice of law.
Koskoff was a leading figure in a national drive for certification of specialists in civil and criminal trial advocacy. The chairman and founder of the National Board of Trial Advocacy helped determine the standards for trial specialization and, in fact, wrote those standards. He was also a founder and past president of the Roscoe Pound Foundation and a founder and former chairman of the ATLA-sponsored National College of Advocacy.
His legacy lives on in both the firm”™s reputation and its community involvement.
The law firm”™s charitable efforts are numerous. For example, earlier this year it donated $100,000 to the Connecticut Children”™s Medical Center in Hartford. The donation was earmarked for specialized medical equipment.
On its website, the firm lists nearly 70 organizations it has supported, including dozens in the Park City.
Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder Day ”“ a fitting tribute to a longtime pillar of the community.
What an exciting and well deserved honor for a team of lawyers and staff who exemplify the best of the legal profession. They give generously to their community but give more to their loyal clients, who with KKB’s assistance, can put the pieces of their lives back together. Congratulations to the KKB team!
