The Westport Library is continuing its tradition of attracting A-list celebrities for its 24th annual “Booked for the Evening” fundraiser by announcing award-winning actress Laura Linney as its guest of honor for the 2023 event.
Linney will be appearing in person for the evening event at the Library”™s Trefz Forum on July 13. Tickets for the event will go on sale in May.
“Laura Linney is not only one of the great actresses of her generation; she is also a lifelong supporter of the power of the arts and creativity, a humanitarian lauded for her work on behalf of cancer patients and their families, and a champion for women in film,” said Bill Harmer, Westport Library executive director. “For all those reasons and more, we are honored to have her as our guest for the 24th annual ”˜Booked for the Evening”™ celebration.”
Linney is one of the most honored performers in the entertainment industry ”“ she has won four Emmys, two Golden Globes, a SAG Award, a National Board of Review Award, and was nominated for three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards and one BAFTA Award. She currently stars as Wendy Byrde in “Ozark,” a role for which she has earned Emmy and SAG Award nominations.
Last year”™s “Booked for the Evening” guest of honor Shonda Rhimes, CEO of the global media company Shondaland. Previous guests of honor included Tom Brokaw, E.L. Doctorow, Pete Hamill, Martin Scorsese, Arthur Mitchell, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Alan Alda and Itzhak Perlman.
