The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester celebrates the extraordinary achievements of 10-year-old swimmer Nico Lahre, who recently delivered a historic performance by breaking multiple Metropolitan Swimming records and earning spots among the fastest swimmers in USA swimming history for his age group.
Nico shattered the Metropolitan Swimming record in the Boys 10-Under 100-yard Backstroke, posting an exceptional time of 1:02.17. This remarkable swim ranks him 25th All-Time in USA Swimming for the event — an extraordinary national milestone for such a young athlete.
Continuing his record-breaking momentum, Nico also set a new record in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 2:15.93 and lowering the previous mark by more than three seconds.
Adding to his growing list of accomplishments, on Nov. 8, Nico swam an impressive 5:26.15 in the Boys 10-Under 500-yard Freestyle, earning him the 52nd all-time ranking in USA Swimming.
Nico, a Chappaqua resident, has been a member of the club’s Marlins swim team for the past three years. Known for his unwavering work ethic, team spirit and eagerness to learn, Nico is consistently the first to volunteer at team events and is always seeking ways to sharpen his skills in the pool.
“Nico is a rare talent — not just because of his speed, but because of his dedication, humility and passion for the sport. Watching him grow year after year is inspiring for everyone at the club. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him,” said Eric Mitchell, director of aquatics, Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester
With multiple records broken and national rankings earned before the age of 11, Nico’s swimming journey is only just beginning.
