Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts in Westchester County is partnering with the Mid-Hudson Problem Gambling Resource Center and the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) to promote Problem Gambling Awareness Month. This initiative is part of the Responsible Play Partnership, a collaboration between the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC), Office of Addiction Support and Services (OASAS), and the New York Council on Problem Gambling (NYCPG), which Empire City continues to participate in to shine a light on problem gambling.
Problem Gambling Awareness Month is an annual effort to raise awareness about the risks of problem gambling and its impact on individuals, families and communities. The month aims to engage communities in a conversation around the impact of gambling-related issues, to promote education, encourage responsible gaming and highlight available resources and support services.
Throughout the month of March, Empire City will light its iconic porte cochère yellow to support the Responsible Play Partnership and to raise awareness on problem gambling and the resources available for players.
Empire City will host the Mid-Hudson Problem Gambling Resource Center on-site for a tabling event on the gaming floor, to share information about the available resources to address problem gambling and discuss how to play responsibly.
MGM Resorts and Empire City have also planned a series of initiatives aimed at educating the public and fostering conversations about problem gambling.
The MGM Resorts responsible gaming employee training program through GameSense has been assigned to more than 60,000 employees this year. More than 1,000 of those employees completed the most advanced levels of training in 2024, including over 100 employees who have earned the title of GameSense Advisor at Empire City.
Additionally, as part of the company’s commitment to responsible gaming research, MGM Resorts is expanding its support of the Kindbridge Research Institute with another $180,000 contribution to examine the impact of sports betting across various populations and the development of responsible gaming strategies. Last year, MGM Resorts donated $100,000 in support of a voluntary medication trial for veterans experiencing gambling addiction.
This transformation is expected to create 2,000 direct jobs at Empire City, all of whom would receive training on responsible gaming, generate more than $1 billion in new economic activity for the region and support the creation of thousands of construction and other indirect and induced jobs.
Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts is one of the largest entertainment and gaming destinations in the Northeast. It is located at 810 Yonkers Ave. in Yonkers.
